The US is reportedly doing everything it can and, in this regard, it is also engaging diplomatic spouses and has doubled the direct hires at its New Delhi embassy to accelerate visas being issued to Indians, according to Venkataraman, a top US official who has landed in New Delhi before the planned March visit by the US commerce secretary Gina Raimondo.

Indians from all sections of the society planning to travel to the US have complained about extraordinary appointment times and delays for the US visas as the embassy staff was downsized during the pandemic and later it couldn't meet the increasing demand for new visas after the economies opened up again.

The US is working seriously to reduce the wait times considerably at its embassy in India, and bring it back slowly to the pre-pandemic levels.
