Controversial film 'Godhra: Chapter 1' ahead of Lok Sabha elections

In February 2002, 59 Hindus were charred to death by a mob in a railway station in Gujarat's Godhra. Following the shocking incident, widespread Hindu-Muslim riots took place in several parts of the State. The Godhra train carnage and the subsequent riots are considered one of the darkest chapters in India's modern history. A film titled 'Accident Or Conspiracy - GODHRA' is now being made.

The news is that OM Trinetra Films, Sakshat Entertainments and Artverse Studios have announced its theatrical release date. The Hindi-language film will hit the screens on March 1, 2024.

Interestingly, the title comes with the suggestion that there is going to be a second part. 'Chapter 1' has been used after the title. The theatrical release has been timed for the 2024 General Elections. Like 'The Kashmir Files' and 'The Kerala Story', 'Godhra', too, could result in political debates and controversies. So far, non-BJP parties have remained mum on the film. They are expected to resort to criticism after the film's trailer is out.

"We discovered many shocking facts during the research. Each of those facts has been presented with proofs in the film," the makers recently said.
