Mehreen Pirzada slams media for calling it a 'sex scene'

Mehreen Pirzada has torn into the media for describing some scenes involving her in the web series 'Sultan Of Delhi', streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar, as sexual in nature. Those scenes have a context and the context is this: a predatory husband indulges in marital rape. The 'F2' and 'F3' actress plays the victim. Her character doesn't do romance but is actually coerced into submitting to her partner's sexual whims.

The 'Mahanubhavudu' actress is feeling sad that reviews and other post-release articles have described Mehreen's scenes as sex scenes. She asked them not to trivialize the grave nature of Marital Rape, around which the series tries to have healthy discussions and debates. For a fact, marital rape is yet to be criminalized in India.

"As an actor, it’s my job to do justice to the role and the team of 'Sultan Of Delhi' helmed by Milan Luthria Sir were extremely professional in making sure that we as actors at no point were uncomfortable or exposed during the shooting of some very difficult scenes," Mehreen wrote today, taking to social media.
