Acclaimed director Mani Ratnam's ambitious project "Ponniyin Selvan" had its first part released a few months ago, which turned out to be a blockbuster in Tamil Nadu, collecting more than 500 crores at the box office.

However, the movie failed to impress audiences in other languages and did not have a universal appeal. Despite Telugu audiences' reputation for making dubbed films successful, they could not connect with the heavy Tamil flavor of the movie, leading to a flop.

Now, the second part of "Ponniyin Selvan" is set to release on April 28. The movie has garnered excellent pre-release business in Tamil Nadu, but in the Telugu states, there is reportedly no interest from buyers or distributors for acquiring the Telugu rights.

Even Dil Raju, who distributed the first part, is reportedly not interested in buying the rights for the second part. As a result, the film is expected to have a minimal release and may not even do 10 crores of pre-release business in the Telugu states according to trade sources due to the lack of interest from Telugu audiences. This is being seen as a big blot on the business of Tamil dubbed projects, which usually do well in Telugu.
