According to sources, there is a competition between young tiger Jr NTR and mega powerstar Ram Charan for the Best Actor award at the national level, after their performances in the film RRR. Both actors are considered deserving of the award, and lobbying efforts have reportedly begun from both sides. Ram Charan's recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and his father megastar Chiranjeevi in New Delhi is believed to be part of this effort, with Chiranjeevi using his connections with the Bharatiya Janata Party to lobby for the national award for his son.

Meanwhile, there are media reports that the tough taskmaster S.S. Rajamouli, the director of RRR, is reportedly indirectly lobbying for the national award for NTR through his father Vijayendra Prasad, a Rajya Sabha member with close ties to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The film is also expected to compete for national awards for visual effects, music, sound design, and choreography. It is known that right from the time of lobbying for Oscars in the USA, fissures between Ram Charan and NTR camp started becoming evident though on the record both deny such things. Now, with local political lobbying all set to begin in Delhi, a real test would begin whether NTR or Charan is fit to get the national award and knives will be sharpened on both sides of the fan base.
