The police have detained three people, including a juvenile, in connection with the harassment and manhandling of a young tourist from Japan in central Delhi on Holi. The woman has not yet filed a complaint and has already left for Bangladesh.
The accused are also from the same area where the woman was staying. The incident was caught on camera and has gone viral on social media, sparking outrage and calls for action. In the video, the men are seen grabbing and smearing colours on the woman, while chanting "Holi Hai", and an egg is smashed on her head.
The woman manages to step away after slapping a man who tries to hold her, but by the end of the ordeal, she was drenched and almost unrecognizable. The accused were identified through local intelligence, and the investigation is ongoing. The police are also in contact with the Japanese embassy.
