Sania Mirza, the legendary Indian tennis player, bid adieu to her illustrious career on Sunday with "happy tears" at the Lal Bahadur Tennis Stadium, the place where she made history with a WTA singles title almost twenty years ago.

Sania played in exhibition matches alongside Rohan Bopanna, Yuvraj Singh, and her "best friend" Bethanie Mettek Sands, in the presence of notable personalities such as union law minister Kiren Rijiju, Minister Srinivas Goud and former Indian cricket team captain Mohammed Azharuddin.

Sania arrived at the venue in a stunning red car and was greeted by enthusiastic fans, including several prominent personalities. During her farewell speech, Sania became emotional and stated that playing for the country for two decades was the greatest honour of her life.

The six-time Grand Slam winner, who clinched three titles in women's doubles and three in mixed doubles, played two mixed doubles exhibition matches and won both of them. The stadium, where Sania had won some unforgettable titles, was adorned with banners such as "Celebrating The Legacy of Sania Mirza," giving the venue a festive vibe.
