In what is being seen as a latest attack by the Centre on those who question PM Modi's image, BBC is now in the firing line. The Income Tax officials carried out searches of BBC's Delhi and Mumbai offices and also reportedly seized phones and laptops.

This comes on the heels of a massive controversy a few weeks ago over the UK national broadcaster's controversial documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his link to the deadly Gujarat communal riots in 2002.

The tax officials sealed BBC's offices for a survey which is linked to the alleged profit diversion and irregularities in terms of transfer pricing related to the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation). The Income Tax authorities are reportedly checking account details as old as 2012. The BBC has issued a statement saying they are cooperating with the authorities but at the same time, the opposition parties in India have started accusing the Centre of harassing the reputed news network over the Modi documentary.
