UK India

There’s some good news to cheer for Indians looking for UK visas. The United Kingdom has reportedly scaled up its processing visa applications to its earlier standard of 15 days. Now, even the priority visas are reportedly being sanctioned within five days.

Due to the unprecedented surge in travel after the pandemic, the UK, like other western countries that are popular with Indians is struggling with immigration backlogs which has forced thousands of students, as well as workers and tourists to reschedule their much-awaited travel.

There are also extra slots for student visas that have now opened in time for the January, 2023 intake. The total number of Indian student numbers to the UK has increased now by 89 per cent compared to last year while skilled workers' visas are also being processed quickly as part of the UK government's efforts at improving visitor visa processing times.

According to the latest UK Immigration Statistics published recently, about 118,000 Indian students received student visas till June 2022, with India overtaking China as the largest nationality who are being given sponsored study visas in the UK. In terms of tourist visas too, the UK is a popular destination for Indian holidaymakers, receiving 28 percent of all visitor visas.

Twitter Users Ask Musk To Quit

Twitter

The fate of Elon Musk as Twitter boss seems to be over, with a very short stint if Musk keeps his word. Twitter users have reportedly voted supporting Elon Musk to step down as the social media platform's chief executive.

The billionaire ran a poll, regarding his future where 57.5% of users voted "yes" when he asked his 122 million followers to decide by voting whether they want him to continue.  Elon Musk acquired Twitter for $44bn (£36bn), mentioned that he will abide by whatever may be the result.

A total of 17.5 million users voted in this poll held online on Monday, with about 42.5% asking Musk not to step down. His charge of the popular platform has proved controversial right from the beginning with measures like laying off staff and instructing strict office attendance becoming hugely unpopular.
